I was recently in Japan as well, and as you say it is very expensive yet wonderful at the same time. Kyoto was certainly one of the highlights, particularly the neighbourhood near the palace where small streets with little to no traffic give way to traditional houses and exquisite shops. Did you find the bar where you can get free drinks and cookies? That was awesome! Nice post...I hope to make it back to Japan someday and have more money to see more!
