Hi there! If you’re in TO, you should def come to Montreal for a few days. At the end of August, we have the raggae fest (Aug 20-21) and the international film fest (Aug 18-23). There are other festivals but these are the two most popular. Don’t forget to go to tam tams on the Sunday!

Then you definitely have to check out Chez Brasil They serve it (as pulp) with bananas and granola, and it’s delicious! I haven’t found it anywhere else in Montreal (or Canada for that matter). They have live music often too. And you should go out to Bobards on Sundays for more brazilian music if you’re so inclined

That’s nice to hear!! The only place I’ve been in the list you mentionned in Sainte-Elisabeth and it is indeed a cool place! I will definitely have to try the acai at Chez Brasil Cafe. I was hooked on it in Brasil this winter and I’d love to try it again in Montreal! I haven’t used the BIXI bikes yet (I have my own bike) but it really picked up! You see people on bikes all over downtown, the old port and on le plateau. It reminds me of Amsterdam!!

I grew up on the west coast, but after 8 years – on and off – I like to call Montreal “home” wherever I happen to be. It truly is a fantastic city and I miss it. The new BIXI system (public bicycle program) which was just being implemented as I moved away…has only made the city even better!

A few of my personal favourite places to chill/eat/drink:
Chez Brasil Cafe (the açaí dish is amazing)
Le Sainte-Elisabeth Pub (or *any* outdoor terrace!)
The Blue Nile (yummy Ethiopian food)
Caffe Art Java (The best espresso & cappuccinos in the city outside of Little Italy)
