The Long Weekend, that Wasn’t Planned.

During the summer months, I usually try to plan something for every weekend. Long weekends are more often the most planned ones. It’s only because our summers in Canada are usually very short, so every weekend counts. But this year, more or less I have winged it and I actually kind of liked doing it. It’s just seems more relaxing and less things to think about. So this past long weekend, my family, boyfriend and I spent the hot days swimming up north at the cottage. With relaxation, good food and great company, it was the perfect weekend.
We spent the first day biking and going along a few trails. Most of these trails are small dirt paths that set off towards beautiful rivers and rolling green hills. So riding your bike for three or more hours seems like nothing. By the time we were done from biking the sight of cool water and a big meal seemed magical. The following day was spent kayaking around islands and diving into the lake. Of course there was the afternoon naptime too. One of my favorite moments during the day. Sleeping in the hot sun and feeling warm and cozy and waking up feeling that urge to jump in cool water. I love that feeling. As for the next few days, swimming and boating seemed like the perfect fit for a fun long weekend. There were many laughs and too much beer/wine consumed. But hey, how can there be too much beer and wine. So below are a few pictures of my weekend I didn’t plan!(Didn’t know I could take such great pictures too) Yet, the funny thing is I am not a BIG cottage lover. I do love enjoying the time spent up north, but I don’t think it’s a whole summer vacation thing for me. I enjoy switching it up every weekend and doing something completely different! Maybe that’s why going with the flow is the perfect option for me, when I travel.
