Saying Goodbye Is Not Supposed to Be Easy

Over the years, the travels, the friendships and the heart breaks, there is something positive that I learned. I learned to  say goodbye to people I may or may not see again. At first, it was a difficult concept to grasp. Why wouldn’t I want to see all my international friends again? Well, unfortunately, most of us have time and financial constraints.  Let it be the friends I met while studying abroad or the boys I met through dating, saying goodbye was never easy. Especially if we shared nothing but happy moments. But it had to be done because, sadly, life does go on with or without them. But one thing is for sure, we grow to become a myriad of all the experiences we shared with people.

I must admit that being exposed to many farewell situations as I did, mostly with all the friends I met through my travels, I did learn something: I generally took life for granted when I was younger. Having to say goodbye to hundreds of people in the last few years, I learned to better appreciate my time with people in general. Not knowing when I’ll see them again, I try to indulge every moment and appreciate not only the qualities but the flaws of people because ultimately, that’s who they are. Regardless of when I see them again, what I do have are those memories. The memories, the laughs, the parties and the craziness we shared still remains. There is always a little bit of craziness in my life, believe it or not!
