From Machu Pichu to Lima

Did you ever wonder how Machu Picchu was built? Or how such a powerful civilization was created such as the Romans? What about the Great Wall of China? Ancient civilizations such as the Incas are fascinating. Their ability to build such extravagant sites with their hands, literally remains honorable. Our world went from the Inca civilization, a civilization filled with astronomy and math among other things, to Lima for example, a city born from Spanish conquerors, a city of square blocks. What happened when the Europeans conquered America? Many refer to Europe when talking about history but many forget about America- a continent full of history and surprises.

Ernesto Guevara’s quote in the Motorcycle Diaries “Wandering around our America has changed me more than I thought. I am not me anymore, at least I’m not the same me I was.” stuck in my head like gum sticks on the floor. Being exposed to architecture and art around the world really opens your eyes on a lot of things. One can choose to cocoon himself by closing his eyes to all of this but how can you once you’ve been exposed to it? Traveling allows you to discover, to live, to love and to learn. Once you start, you just can’t stop because it is indeed an enriching experience.  Two people can visit the same city but live two different experiences. That’s indeed the beauty of traveling.
